Uses For Dryer Sheets/From Frugal Living
Uses for Dryer Sheets
If you are going for a frugal or greener drying experience and are using dryer balls, laundry softener or a dry towel to help with your drying needs in the machine. You may find that you now have an abundance of dryer sheets that you don’t know what to do with.
I have found (and tried) a few ideas that may help you use them up without throwing them out.
Dryer sheets have a similar absorbing power as newspapers when it comes to odors, so you can clean and deodorize among other things:
▌Push them into your sweaty, smelly shoes and let them sit overnight to reduce the offending odor
▌Lay them out in dresser drawers to replace an old sachet and make clothing smell nice
▌Place a few in suitcases or gym bags before you re-use them again
▌Place them in between books when storing to reduce the musty smell
▌Wipe the surface of your electronics to remove static and dust
▌Loosen baked on grime when you drop one in the sink water with the pan
▌Pick up small particles that are hard to sweep, like glass, hair and sawdust
▌Dusting your blinds gets easy when you wipe them with a dryer sheet
▌Run a needle and thread between the dryer sheet to prevent tangles
▌Drop them at the bottom of your trash can before you put in a trash bag
▌Clean mineral deposits from shower doors after a shower
▌Use them as bug repellent (see also snopes list of items)
Also check out Bounceeverywhere.com for their ideas - mostly deodorizing and some cleaning.

Merry Christmas
I have a lot to do to get prepared before next week, a lot of cooking and cleaning to be done.
We will be having Christmas dinner with my oldest son Steven, Rebekah and our 2 grandsons along with my daughter Erin and her boyfriend Jeremy and Rebekah's Parent's Pat and Dianne and maybe Rebekah's brother Patrick and his wife Rachael and their girls. I'm not sure who else will be coming. We will miss having David home for Christmas but he will be back home for good sme time in January :).
Well I better go so that I can make my list of what needs to be done before next week.
Hope everyone has a Blessed Christmas.

Pamper yourself with $100 Walgreens SpaRewards
When the Walgreens Spa Rewards was originally announced in the October EasySaver catalog, there was a limitation on how much you could save on your spa visit (up to 25% of cost of services). Thanks to Georgia, I have found out that the rules have changed (the limitation on how much you could save was removed). From what I can tell this will be a great way to get a huge discount at the spa. But, there is no way to tell how good of a deal it will be because Walgreens is not providing sufficient details. So, I am going to do this as an experiment. If after getting the certificate and trying to book my spa date I find out it is not a good deal, then I will not do it. But I have to try, this offer is too tempting! Here's the Walgreens Spa Rewards deal:
1. Buy 4 participating products for $100 reward (or 2 products for $50 reward) at Walgreens in one transaction before Saturday, Nov. 24. I'll be buying Robitussin Syrup (4 oz) at $5.79 each, and using a $3 printable coupon for an out-of-pocket cost of $2.79 for each of my 4 items purchased to qualify.
2. Mail-in your cash register receipt and the form found in the November EasySaver catalog (found in a display by the front door of all stores).
3. You will receive a SpaRewards certificate in the mail (non-transferable, only you can use it because it will have your name on it) for a rebate on spa services.
4. Call the toll-free telephone number on your certificate to book your spa treatment at a participating spa near you.
5. Enjoy your spa visit before March 1, 2008.
Again, I hope that this is a good deal, but there is no way to tell until I do it!

Great Uses For Dawn Dish Soap
Great Uses for Dawn
Linsey, one of the frugal bloggers at Wisebread, posted this article she found about original uses for Dawn. I am always on the look out for frugal hacks like this:
Ice Pack – We are always in need of ice packs. Store-bought kinds can be expensive, and the fillers aren’t always guaranteed to be nontoxic. To make your own, simply fill a strong freezer bag halfway with Dawn Original dish soap (the blue kind, non-ultra). Double-bag for extra leak protection. These super-soft ice packs are great for all kinds of injuries. (We use snack-size freezer bags to make kid-sized boo-boo packs!)
I love this idea. We don't have any special "boo-boo packs"- we usually use ice, which sometimes leaks when it melts. Making a Dawn pack is now on my to-do list! :)

Hello
It's been a while since my last post. I went to my Neurologist yesterday and she gave me orders NOT to drive since I have had some seizures and was hospitalized last Tuesday for them. I have been having issues with muscle weakness, numbness and now seizures that come upon me without warning. They think the muscle weakness is from Lupus.
The doctor put me on seizure medicine to see if this will help. She also is sending me to a seizure specialist. I will also so be seeing a Rheumatologist in December for the Lupus. We will hold off on going to the Mayo Clinic or to the Baylor Clinic she said until sometime next year. Lord willing if it's His will He will give the doctor's direction as to what's going on. He is my strength day by day and I leave it all in His hands, for He never gives us more than we can handle, even though sometimes we may think we have more than we can Handel.

"Be Still And Know I Am God."
When was the last time you were just still? To hear complete quietness and doing absolutely nothing except meditate on this verse?Have you stilled your mind?Have you stilled your heart?Have you stilled your soul?Busyness reigns in our fast-paced world today---but Christians need to take the time to meditate and reflect on God's Word. We cannot hear God's voice if our minds are running so quickly trying to 'get it all done'. We want to be in communion with Him on a day to day, minute to minute basis. You can't do that with radios blaring, phones ringing and an overloaded schedule. What is He trying to speak with you today? His gentle voice might be nudging you to:
1. Spend more time relishing His word and fellowshipping with Him in prayer and stop living in idolatry putting other things before Him.
2. Stop neglecting your husband because you are so busy with the children and/or other endeavors. Begin respecting him by putting him on the throne of your heart (after God, of course). True respect begins there and is not just an outward act 'because you have to.'
3. To train your children and make it a PRIORITY to bring Christ to them in a real way. If you are mentoring someone at church and not your children, you need to repent.
4. Repent of that private sin(s) that only you and the Lord know about. Yes, it may be the thousandth time you brought it to Him, but this time it needs to be for good. Remember that godly sorrow brings repentance, but worldly sorrow doesn't.
5. To desire and begin to cultivate a gentle and quiet spirit. The false beauty of this world screams at us to be loud, aggressive, and proud. This is not true beauty---we need to reject this wordly philosophy. Humility is beautiful.....meekness is too.
6. To stop overeating. Just stop. You can do it. No excuses.
7. To keep promises you have made to others and to Him. You are learning to build godly character by doing so.
8. To control your tongue (by doing this you must also have control over your heart). The sharp tongue belongs to the foolish woman who 'tears down her home'.Begin to work on these things now! It is so easy to step away from the computer and forget all the valuable things we have learned. We can be forever searching for 'meat' but forgetting as soon as we have partaken in it. Take a mental inventory of what needs to be done in your life.

They did it again
We were invited to the Jordan's for supper Monday evening they said that Mark and Amber were bringing supper. All of the Jordan Boy's their wifes, Steff, Steve & Donna, Erin and Jeremy. We were all sitting waiting on Mark to show up with the food (late as usual), He comes in and we are all sitting around and he starts talking about David. He said He tried to call him but got no answer, then his phone rang. Mark pretends to talk to David and then the door opens up and in COMES David. I almost hurt myself running to him I let out a scream and started running to him. They had this planned for a while. All of the guy's ( Steve, Steven & Rebekah Walker, Stephen Jordan Wes Jordan, Mark and Jeremy) worked on it for several weeks, they did a good job keeping it under their hats. Dave will be going back to Hawaii on Monday until January 2008. Here are a few pictures.

Isaiah 12:2
Good Morning
Sorry it's been so long since my last post, I have been down in bed for the past week, not able to sit, stand or walk. I had a spinal tap done last Tuesday and I think it messed my disc up. I'm somewhat better today but still can't sit to long without being in pain. Please pray for me the doctor said we might have to do another spinal tap to see if it will help(some special spinal tap to draw blood and put it back in I'm not sure how to explain it). Lord willing we won't have to do this. I will find out this morning.

THE CONQUEROR
Upon the sea of life,
No matter how the waves may beat,
No matter what the strife:
The Lord is just the same today
As when He walked the Sea,
And He can conquer every storm
That life may send to thee.
The waves are raging everywhere
And men are sore distressed,
But all they need is found in him
Who giveth perfect rest;
So cast your care upon the Lord,
Whoses strength will never fail;
He calms the waves for your frail bark,
His power will e're prevail.
Psalm 130
Verse 4, But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared
Verse 5, I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.
Verse 6, My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.
Verse 7, For with the Lord there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.

A Strong Woman vs. A Woman of Strength
A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape...
But a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape.
A strong woman isn't afraid of anything...
But a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of fear.
A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her...
But a woman of strength gives her best to everyone.
A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future...
A woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be God's blessings and capitalizes on them.
A strong woman walks surefootedly...
But a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls.
A strong woman wears the looks of confidence on her face...
But a woman of strength wears grace.
A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey...
But a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong.
Who AM I
Who am I that He would cared for me.
I thank Him for saving me and giving me breath each day.
Who am I that the Lord of all the earth would care to know my name would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I that the bright and morning star would choose to light the way, to my ever wondering heart,
Not because of who I am, but because of what you’ve done not because of what I’ve done, but because of who you are.
I am flower quickly fading here today and gone tomorrow a wave tossed in the ocean, a vapor in the wind still you hear me when I’m calling Lord you catch me when I’m falling you’ve told me who I am
I am yours
I am yours
Who am I that the eyes have seen but sin could look on me with love and watch me rise again who am I that the voice that calms the sea called out through the rain and calm the storm in me.
Not because of who I am but because of what you’ve done not because of what I’ve done but because of who you are.
I am a flower quickly fading here today and gone tomorrow a wave tossed in the ocean a vapor in the wind still you hear me when I’m calling Lord you catch me when I’m falling you told me who I am

My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

I am having so much fun doing this. I got my receipt and at the bottom it said that I have
$ 52.00 in savings for the year, not sure if this is the rebate receipt or if it was just letting me know how much I have saved. I'm not sure when I get the bucks back or if that receipt was the one I use on my next purchase. I wasn't a coupon it was on the receipt.

How Frugal Are You?
Take this Quiz to find out how you rate! Jot down what letter you picked for your answer to each ? and then count up how many of each letter you have.
1. Are you brand loyal?
A. Definitely!
B. I buy mostly brand-name, but some generic
C. I buy my favorites only if they are on sale or I have a coupon
D. I am not at all brand loyal and I always get the cheapest deal I can get regardless of the name on the package
2. You just realized that you are out of toilet paper. You:
A. Run to the nearest store and pay around $10 for a large package
B. Make a quick run to the grocery store to get it and use a 50 cents off coupon.
C. Flip through your stack of sale flyers to review which stores have a good deal on it this week and get it on sale and with a coupon.
D. Out of toilet paper? That’s unheard of since you stocked up for a year when it was on a hot sale for 24 rolls for $3. Besides, you only use toilet paper for company anyways, preferring to use rewashable cloths instead.
3. In planning meals, your typical practice is to:
A. Decide what you feel like on the way home from work, and swing by the store or a fast food place for a quick dinner.
B. Buy a bunch of groceries on the weekend, including box dinners and frozen meals.
C. Make a menu plan once a week and shop for the groceries, using coupons and buying loss leaders for a cheap grocery bill.
D. You shop once a month for your groceries and have a pantry full of home-canned veggies and fruits and a freezer full of wild game. You make everything from scratch.
4. You buy clothing for yourself and your family:
A. In the mall, your favorite boutique, or anywhere else where you find great style!
B. At Target or an equivalent store.
C You either buy on great clearances at any store as long as the prices are rock bottom or you sew your own clothing
D. At garage sales or thrift stores or you get them free through Clothing give-aways and exchanges
5. When it comes to eating meat, you:
A. Have to have meat for every meal
B. Buy the meat specials of the week and only have it 5 times a week
C. Buy the manager’s mark-down meats and only have it about 4 times a week
D. You obtain meat through hunting, fishing, mark-downs, and make it stretch by adding beans or oatmeal to your hamburger and only have it 3 times a week.
6. When buying household cleaning products you buy:

Results:
Mostly A answers:
You are a Spendy Wendy! Even if you are wealthy enough to not need to be frugal, learning how to spend less in certain areas will allow you to give more money to the Lord’s work. Most likely, though, your spending has created frustration in your marriage and financial hardship/huge credit card bills and it would be great for you to listen to a daily program online or on the radio like: The Dave Ramsey Show or Crown Financial Concepts.
Mostly B answers:
You are an On-Her-Way Olivia. You enjoy shopping and you like to get deals, but you may need more ideas and inspiration for cutting costs in some areas. You aren’t doing terribly at saving money, but there are definitely some things you could try to trim down in the budget if there was a financial crunch.
Mostly C answers: You are a Mostly-Frugal Marta. You are always looking for bargains and deals and trying to do the best with what you have. You enjoy learning about being frugal and are always looking for ways to save and yet you are balanced in your ability to still have fun and splurge sometimes.
Mostly D answers: You are a Homesteading Hattie. You take frugality to new levels! Most Hatties have come to be this way out of necessity because of hard times but come to enjoy the very simple lifestyle. Hatties are usually big gardeners, recyclers, and are good about conserving everything (heat, electricity, water, paper, etc.) If you are a Hattie, you may need to loosen up some and realize that sometimes it’s worth paying a little more for something that saves you time. This quiz was not meant to be judgemental or tell you that you are wrong for buying certain things. It was just for fun, a little gauge to help you determine where you’re at in the spectrum of frugal women. Obviously, we all have areas we splurge in and we all have areas where we are more frugal than others. I’d love to hear comments from you on this quiz and whether you are a Wendy, Olivia, Marta, or Hattie!

Coupon Savings
Did you know that CVS has a coupon in last weeks paper saying that if you transfer a prescription from another pharmacy to them they will give you a $30.00 gift card to use in the store. HOW COOL is that. I'm transferring one of mine so that I can get the gift card.
Also they sent me another coupon for $4.00 off any $20.00 purchase. I had a coupon a couple of weeks ago and with the manufactur coupons I had I saved $14.45 I had a total of
$ 20.34 and I got everything for $1.89 after coupons. I got cereal for .79 cents, free air-freshner holder, pert shampoo was $2.99 each had 2 coupons and got them for .70 cents each.
I then went to HEB and used coupons and saved another $13.55 for a total of $28.00 in savings. I got syrup free, cat food free from HEB.
This is so much fun!!

Psalm 5:1-3
Harken unto the voice of my cry, my King and my God: for unto thee will I pray, my voice shalt thou hear in the morning.

Fun Filled Week
I woke this morning at 5:45am and couldn't sleep any more, I get that way sometimes.
Anyway, my grandson Ryan is coming to visit for 2 weeks :) and I will have him for 5 days. I have a lot of fun things planned for the week.
We will be baking cookies, spending time outside, making a collage and coloring among other things. I will be taking pictures and will try and post them for you to see. I'm looking forward to having him. I have not been able to spend a lot of time with him and Brandon because of my illness. While I'm feeling better I want to enjoy him as much as possible ( I have had several good days other than a little pain but I can handle it). The Lord is good He gives me strength to get through the days and I thank Him for that. That's it for now I may not get back on right a way to send a follow up on our time together but will as soon as I can.

My Strong Tower
Psalm 61:2-3, “From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a STRONG TOWER from the enemy.”

We have been created for God Himself
Take a look
I will try to post a new devotion each day.
We were not created for our own pleasure but for God's pleasure. Rev 4:11 says that everything that God created was created for His pleasure. That includes us. We are the work of God's hands. We are not here to live for ourselves but to bring pleasure and delight to the One who created us. What greater purpose could we find in life than to please our Creator and Redeemer.

Health Up-date
Sorry it's been a while since I last posted any thing.
I have had up and down days. The Lord Blessed me with 3 days of feeling pretty good on Tuesday I started having trouble walking and having a lot of pain by Wednesday I could hardly walk. I can now walk short distances without the cane. I still can't walk for a long time without my feet going numb and I start having trouble walking. I go back to the Neurologist Sept 11Th and she will be doing some nerve testing, and I will get the results to the blood work that I had done several weeks ago. Please pray for me as I go the last time I have this test done, when the doctor stuck the needle in my spine my body started jerking around and I was in pain the rest of the day. Pray that the Lord might be pleased to give the doctor wisdom on how to treat me. I will have the MRI'S Sept 18Th for the brain, neck, spine and lower back.
May the Lord Bless you all

Foot Drop
Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis:
Foot Drop
Foot drop is the name given to a condition which affects walking where there is a difficulty or failure to properly lift the toe of the foot.
This results in what is sometimes referred to as 'slapping gait', where the toe gets dragged rather than lifted, and 'slaps' down when walking.
People with foot drop may drag the toe of their shoe on the ground or may only walk on the heel of the affected foot. This can result in scuffing of the toe of the shoe on the affected side.
Foot drop is not a disease in its own right. Rather, it is an indicator of an underlying condition such as multiple sclerosis although other conditions or disorders may cause it to occur.

Multiple Scleroses Cognition Issues
Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis (ms) is the most common, disabling, neurological condition, to affect young adults in the world today.
Multiple Sclerosis Symptoms
Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis: Cognitive Issues
Brain Fog Concentration Language Problems Memory Speech
What is Cognition?
Cognition refers to a whole range of different intellectual processes our brains undertake to perform tasks and keep us functional. An easy way to understand cognition is to think of it in terms of memory and thinking.
When we can think clearly and remember things well, our cognitive ability is good since we have the information immediately to hand.
If either memory, or thinking were somehow disrupted, then our ability to process information would be impaired. Description of the how we use our cognitive skills:
to focus, maintain and divide attention (concentration)
to learn and remember new things
to think, reason and solve problems
to plan, carry out and monitor our own activities
to understand and use language
to recognize objects and assemble things together
to judge distances (spatial skills)
Cognitive Problems and DifficultiesCognitive problems and difficulties associated with multiple sclerosis are more common than was once thought. Previously, it was thought that multiple sclerosis was purely a physical disorder and that intellectual and mental functioning were left virtually intact.
However, this is now known not to be the case and that at least 50% - 60% of people who develop multiple sclerosis will develop some form of cognitive dysfunction as a result. This figure may yet rise as future studies shed more light on the range and extent of cognitive dysfunction associated with multiple sclerosis.
What Is Cognitive Dysfunction? There is no single description which fully encompasses the term, 'cognitive dysfunction'. It really applies to a whole raft of different problems and issues associated with, and related to; intellectual functioning.
For most people who develop some kind of cognitive dysfunction, usually mild; impairment typically means difficulties with thinking clearly, problems with recall (particularly very recent events) and decreased concentration.
For some, around 10% of people with multiple sclerosis, the impairment to their cognitive functioning will eventually become severe enough to significantly interfere with daily living.
What are the Signs of
Cognitive Dysfunction?Initial signs of cognitive dysfunction are typically very subtle (although this may not always be the case) and tend to be recognized retrospectively with the benefit of hindsight. It may even be noticed first by a partner or other family member.
Language processing, concentration and memory problems are the most common presentations of cognitive dysfunction.
'Finding the right words' is a common complaint relating to language use, where the person knows what they would like to say but is unable to 'find the words'.
Concentration may result in a person beginning a task, becoming distracted by another but beginning the new task before finishing the first, and so it goes on and on, until there are numerous unfinished chores or tasks.
Memory problems too, present a challenge for people with multiple sclerosis, particularly short term memory. This tends to show itself as a failure to remember basic things such as the name of a familiar item or animal, for example. The range of cognitive dysfunctions which can be associated with multiple sclerosis:
Verbal fluency and language skills can be impaired
Intellectual reasoning can be impaired
Inability to learn quickly
Poor problem solving abilities
Information processing can be slowed
Poor concentration
Poor judgment
