Print My Story
The following verse is taped to Ivy’s hospital room window and begins her story, 'The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.' Psalm 18:2 As you read on, don't be sad for Ivy, rejoice with her in the strength of her faith.Ivy's story began in early March with what she thought was her usual case of allergies as the pollens began to get bad. She picked up a cough and her back was bothering her as well. On March 26, she saw her doctor for some prescription refills. At that time, she discovered her annual exam was a year past due. She made an appointment for March 31, to get that taken care of. On the 31, the doctor commented that her cough did not seem to be any better. Ivy felt it was worse and that she was beginning to get short of breath and hurt in her chest when she coughed. The doctor ordered a chest x-ray to check for pneumonia. They scheduled the x-ray, but Ivy put it off until she felt a worse. The x-ray was done on April 3. The x-ray showed something suspicious and a CT scan was done the same day. The call came at 4:30 that afternoon. A large mass on her sternum was discovered with a good chance that it could be cancer. An appointment with an oncologist was scheduled for the next day.April 4, Ivy and Tim sat in the oncologist office with her brother, Jason, and two of her 'sisters', Chris and Jennifer. The doctor showed us on the CT scan the fluid that had built up around Ivy's lungs and heart and explained that the mass was pushing on her heart. He explained that there was a very good chance this would be cancer and that he was recommending that she go directly into the hospital for further tests. We cried and then we held each other and prayed. Through God's mercy we pulled it together and checked into NE Methodist Hospital. On April 5, they drained 40 oz. of fluid from around Ivy's lungs and heart, which was sent off to pathology for testing. The mass was approx. 4.3 in. x 3.1 in. in size pushing on her main heart valve as well as her right artery and pulmonary veins. Over the next couple of days other tests were run. Ivy's pain level was increasing and pain meds were prescribed. There was a lot of waiting and praying happening in the room throughout the weekend.April 7, brought the news that the test on the fluid came back inconclusive. There were bacteria of some type present, but its source was not known. On April 8, a needle biopsy was performed on the mass. X-rays, blood work and other tests continued. April 10, brought the news that we had all feared, Mediastinal (thymic) large B-cell Lymphoma. This is a fairly rare form of cancer that occurs in women ages 35-50. All we have been told and read so far indicates that it responds well to chemo. This is a fast growing cancer, but the good news is that because of this it should respond quicker to the treatments. They expect a 75-80% reduction in size after the first treatment. They are recommending chemo and radiation, which will take about 9 months total to complete.April 11 brought more tests, some quite painful, but our Ivy shines on. She recites her verse (Psalm 18:2) repeatedly anytime things become overwhelming.Tim and Ivy have struggled the last couple of days in deciding whether to remain at NE Methodist and continue treatment with her current doctors or to look at transferring to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Ivy's treatment here at NE has been excellent. The nurses are so gentle and caring and the doctors have been very good as well. We have all been praying for guidance on where this treatment should take place. Please continue to pray for guidance on this.Dawn and Michael Coldewey, friends that have been fighting this battle since last October, shared with us the process they went through and talked about the treatment and care Michael received at MD Anderson. It was such a blessing to be able to see a tiny piece of how God has been working in this situation. Ivy has been close to Dawn throughout their battle and now here we are watching the tables turn. What a comfort it was for all of us to hear the words of encouragement that Dawn and Michael were able to share. Tim and Ivy feel at peace now with their decision to transfer to Houston. As I close this story that has just begun, I ask for continued prayers for her and her family; for guidance for them as they are faced with huge decisions daily; for strength and rest for Ivy's body as she prepares to fight this battle, but also for Tim as he becomes the major caregiver to Ivy, Kimberly and Wil; for God's angels to surround Ivy every minute of every day, shielding her from pain, from Satan's doubts and fears, and for a peace that passes all understanding. We also ask that you continue to remember Michael and Dawn and their beautiful girls as they continue in their battle.Ivy sends her love and thanks to each and everyone one of you that have called, emailed, visited and most of all prayed. These are the things that are helping to carry her through. We will do our best to update this site on a daily basis. I close with Matthew 21:22, 'And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.'

The Mangosteen Fruit

The Pericarp, or rind, of the Mangosteen fruit contains more Xanthones than any other source on earth; a defense against Free Radicals.

Free Radicals are atoms with an unpaired number of electrons and these highly reactive radicals can start a chain reaction. When they react with cellular DNA these cells may not function properly or die.

Diseases are directly linked to free radical build up, including: Cancer, Heart Disease, Stroke, Lung Disease, Diabetes, Arthritis, etc. To prevent free radical damage, the body needs a defense system of preventative antioxidants, combined with a properly functioning immune system.

Antioxidant properties (Xanthones) in the Mangosteen function as a balance for free radicals in the body and are proven to provide natural relief via direct inhibition of COX-2 enzymes.

The Orac (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) Test has shown that an ounce of Mangosteen Juice has 20-30 times the ability to absorb free radicals than one ounce of most fruits and vegetables.

I Love this song

All in All

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
Verse 1
You are my all in all.
Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool
You are my all in all.

Chorus
Jesus, Lamb of God,
Worthy is Your name.
Jesus, Lamb of God,
Worthy is Your name.

Verse 2
Taking my sin, my cross, my shame
Rising again, I bless Your name
You are my all in all.
When I fall down, You pick me up
When I am dry, You fill my cup
You are my all in all.

Mangosteen Juice from Xango ONLY

Some have ask if the Mangosteen Juice that I have been talking about is from Xango
YES it is (I use no other brand of Mangosteen Juice but the Mangosteen Juice from Xango).
Xango uses the whole fruit and they have the patent on this process. No other product other than Xango has the whole fruit. So if you are using any other brand you will not get the true benefits from it that the Xango brand gives, your wasting your money and you won't get the results that the Xango Mangosteen Juice offers.

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

Hope this answers some of your questions about whether or not the Mangosteen tablets will be as much a benefit as the Juice it self. I have a nurse that we are friends with that has researched the mangosteen juice and talks to the doctors several times a week to stay connected on all of the science to do with the mangosteen juice.
If you want more information on the 202 reasons to use the mangosteen juice from Xango please e-mail me at: healthychoices2@yahoo.com below is an e-mail from Lorrie our nurse friend.

Absolutely, you are not able to get the benefit from the Peri carp of the fruit where all of the good xantones are located. you won't get the results that you are looking for in the tablets. The Caplets are basically a waste of your money as you will not be able to get the 202 reasons to use the juice. The Xantones are located in the pericarp or rind of the fruit. Hope this helps.

The Lord Is Good

Hello Friends and Family

It's been a while since I last posted any thing.
Just an update on how I'm doing heath wise. The Lord has blessed me with strength this past month, I am still using the Mangosteen Juice and it has been helping me tremendously.
Since starting on the Mangosteen Juice February 14, 2008 I have NOT been in ANY PAIN!!
PRAISE THE LORD!!!
I have been able to get off all of my prescription drugs except my asthma pill and even been able to get off my seizure medicine. I have not had any seizures or the symptoms. The Lord is so gracious and has given me strength to where for the first time in 2 years I was able to go to ALL of the meetings during our Spring Conference and not have any pain or weakness and I have been able to help with preparing and serving the food. WHAT A BLESSING this has been my desire to get to the point where I can be of more help at Church and the Lord has Blessed me in this area.
I Thank My God daily for His love and for giving me the strength to be able to sit and hear His word being put forth without having to move around so much or get up and walk out because of pain. If you or a loved one suffers from any debilitating health problems and you would like to learn more about the Mangosteen Juice and it's health benefits, you can go to my website and learn more about it's health benefits. www.thewonderfulfruit.com or e-mail me at healthychoices2@yahoo.com

Prayer Request/ Hospital stay

Hello everyone
It's been a while since my last post.
I am asking for prayer, I will be going into the Hospital tomorrow (Tuesday March 4-7), for a seizure study and they will make me have seizures to see what kind I have, please pray that I will have the 4-6 seizures that they are needing right away or I will have to stay longer. I have to have people there with me around the clock so please also pray for those that will be giving their time to help. I have had to get off a of my medicines and suppliments and am having the pain and weakness again since I'm off my Mangosteen Juice.
I have been doing really well on the Mangosteen Juice. It has taken away my pain and inflammation that I have been suffering with now for 6 years. It has given me back my energy and strength. I thank the Lord for allowing me to find out about this Juice. I have been able to keep up my house and go with my daughter Erin a couple of Saturdays ago to look at wedding dresses and then went to the mall to look at shoes. I haven't been able to do that in a LONG time and I wasn't in any pain, I then got home at 6:30pm and cooked for our guest. I was able to get off all of my pain medicines Feb 14th and have not gotten back on them. I have been able to go to lunch with a couple of friends and enjoy my time without being in pain PRAISE THE LORD!!!!

Mangosteen and Fibromyalgia (Saturday, 2/16/08)

My name is Cindy Walker. I have suffered from increasing debilitating pain for 6 years, which has recently been diagnosed by my Rheumatologist) as fibromyalgia. I have been unable to work for 14 months and have had to use a walker and a cane due to the intense pain and extreme weakness in my legs. Prior to this recent diagnosis in December 2007, my doctor thought that my condition may be Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, or possibly MS. On Wednesday, Feb 13, 2008, my doctor increased my Darvocet prescription from 650mg to 1300 mg every 6 hours, plus 20 mg of Flexeril at bedtime. I also have a diagnosis of low grade Lupus, but MS has been ruled out with the recent diagnosis of fibromyalgia.
I have not been able to work since December 2006 due to my intense pain and also the increasing weakness in my leg muscles.

I am now just 2 1/2 days into taking the Mangosteen Juice that my husband, Casey, came home with this Thursday evening (Feb 14, 2008). I drank 3 oz's right away, and I decided not to take my pain medication that night, to see how I would do. Usually I have to take pain medicine before bed so that I can sleep without being in so much pain and waking up several times in so much pain that I have to take more pain medicine in order to get through the night, and even then it doesn't take all of the pain away.

Thursday night I slept GREAT and woke up only once and that wasn't because of pain, I was so amazed at how I felt and well I slept. The next morning I had my 4th pain treatment for the Fibromyalgia. Since I'm allergic to all inflammatory medicines, there was nothing but pain medicine that the doctor could give to me. I was receiving daily treatments at my doctor's office all week, Mon-Fri, however I wasn't getting any relief after the treatments. I woke Friday morning feeling GREAT!! ...and I didn't even have to use my cane!! The nurses were all amazed at how good I looked and how well I was walking, and said, "So the treatments are starting to work.” I said, "NO, it's a Juice called Mangosteen Juice that
I started taking last night and that is what is helping me." Well, they looked at me a little strange, and took me to the room for my pain treatment.

Each day they asked me what my pain level is, and when I said, "I have NO pain," they were amazed, and again said, "Well, it must be the treatments that are finally working.” Again, I told them about the Mangosteen Juice, and that I could only attribute how I felt to drinking the Mangosteen juice, and I told them that it helps me with my inflammation and my pain.

I have been in "off and on" pain for the past 6 years, and I have been in constant pain for the past 1 1/2 years, 24 hours 7 days a week without any relief, even though I took pain medicine a lot. Additionally, I have had muscle weakness for quite a while, and have not had any energy. Most of the time I would have to lie down during the day to rest because I was in so much pain and was so very weak that I couldn't even walk. Since this past Thursday evening, 2/14/08, I have not had to lay down even once during the day!

In fact, yesterday, Friday, 2/15/08, after my pain treatment, my friend that took me had to go to Sam's and Wal-Mart, and I usually can't get through one store before I'm hurting so bad after walking just 10-15 minutes that I have to leave. However, yesterday, I was able to make it through Sam's, and while at Wal-Mart I started hurting just a little bit, but not like
I usually do. I came home and took my 2nd 3oz drink of Mangosteen Juice, and within 30 minutes after taking the juice, I started getting my energy back and the little bit of pain that I had was going away!

I HAVE NOT BEEN PAIN FREE in such a long time!! I am praising God for putting us back in contact with you Ed, and getting us back on the Mangosteen Juice.

Several weeks after I came home from the Hospital in June of last year (2007), after 3 weeks of not being able to walk, I had to go through therapy to learn to walk again and to build up strength in my muscles. After that, a friend brought us 4 bottles of the Mangosteen juice and told me to take 3 oz, 3 times a day. After we used it up I really didn't realize how much it had helped me until just a few days ago when we decided to call our friend, Ed Johnson, to get more, and obtain a wholesale buying number.

I was talking to a friend about my now getting back on it again, and she immediately said that she remembers that for a few weeks, I was really doing great for some reason. We thought back, and this was the period of time when I was taking the Mangosteen Juice and didn't know that that was why I was feeling so good at the time. Immediately after getting off the juice, I started going downhill quickly and didn't know what was wrong, nor did any of my doctors.

The Mangosteen Juice is helping me a lot and I will be continuing to take it from now on. My goal is to get off all of my medicines soon. I am so excited about my quick results!!

New grand baby on the way

Hey everyone
I just wanted to let everyone know that my daughter Erin and Jeremy are expecting their first baby. If all goes well the baby will be born sometime in September. They will find out for sure her due date on the 20th I think she said. Please pray for her and the baby, that the Lord will protect this child and that Erin won't have any complications. We weren't sure if she could or would be able to get pregnant, the Lord has allowed her to get pregnant and we are so excided and look forward to meeting our grandchild.

Please pray for me

I just wanted to ask for prayer, Sunday Morning after Church I was walking out of the Church to go to the car and ended up falling onto the side walk and had a seizure. I hurt my knees, my right side, legs and hip. I had been feeling bad since Friday and thought it would pass like it does a lot of times. During Church I started losing the use of my right hand and was feeling out of it and couldn't stay focused, I was getting extremly tired and weak but I couldn't move. By the time we got up after services were over my legs wouldn't work and they were turning in and I was shaking. I thought that I would make it to the car and that maybe it was just that I was weak. Casey and our friend Vivian grabbed me to help me walk because I couldn't walk on my own and was staring to feel like I wasn't there. By the time we got out the door I 'm not sure how far we got but I went down knees first and over to the right side. Vivian kept me from falling face first so that I wouldn't hit my head. John Willette, Josh White and Richard Hamilton who all have medical training checked me over after I came too and said that they thought I would be ok that the seizure didn't last long and that I needed to rest . Josh and Richard followed us home to help get me in the house, and Josh checked me again to make sure there weren't any more injuries. I have been weak and in a lot of pain from the fall since Sunday, when I have had seizures before I usually am feeling better by the 2nd or 3rd day but not this time. I will be going to my Rheumatologist Monday- Friday to have treatments so I will have him check me out. Please pray that I regain my strength back soon if it's the Lords will.

Almost Done :)

I'm almost done with Erin's queen size quilt. All I have to do now is add more rows to the sides to make it wider and then put the batting and backing on and stitch it all together. After I stitch it together then I will sew around each square by hand to tack it down to the batting and back to secure it. Lord willing I will be able to start Steven & Rebekah one after I finish this one, OK Rebekah you need to be thinking of what colors you want. I will make David one after I make Steven & Rebekah's. I won't be able to work on it Feb 11th - Feb 15th because I will be having treatments done each day that week. Please pray for me as I go through them, I'm praying that I won't have any problems and that the treatments will help.

Quilt for my grandson Brandon

Erin took me today to buy the material for Brandon's quilt, and I came home and made it. I will try and get better pictures later. This took me about 2 hours to make this included cutting and sewing. I tried to find some material that would match the changing pad I made him but this is as close as I could get.

This first picture he is showng me his hat and gloves his aunt Erin bought him. The 2nd picture he is in our back field helping his pawpa look for a leak. The rest he is learning to ride his bike with Aunt Erin's help. Then he figures it out on his own.

New Quilt: Quilt Of Many Colors

Here is a quilt I'm working on that I call a quilt of many colors. All of the material seen was given to me from several ladies in our Church except 2 of the colors. The green print and the bright pink/red I bought. This one has been claimed already.

My Husband is becoming a frugal shopper

Every since I got 2-free tickets for an internet business training how to sell things on e-bay, yahoo and more for Tuesday evening the 22nd he has been even more excided about looking for marked down items.

This is so neat my husband Casey works at Home Depot and is always coming home with new things he's found marked down. He comes home all excited I can always tell when he gets out of the car if he has bought something he has this Big smile on his face and starts telling me how much he saved on the item. Here are a few things he found this week. He has already bought 2 floor lamps one was $38.00 and he got it for $7.00 another one was $ 80.00 and he got it for $17.00. He got a me a toaster oven that bakes, toast, does pizza and is wonderful to bake biscuits (since my oven just went out on me) He got it marked down but I forgot how much it was. This week he came home all excited because he found ceramic tile marked down he would of had to pay $400.00 at regular price and got 8 boxes for $80.00 he also came home with 2 fajita iron skillets with wooden trays. He got the cabinets we were going to put in our kitchen several months back, original price was $ 2,800.00 he got them for $600.00. Yesterday he came home with 2 microwave stands and said hey we can sell these, regular price was $83.79 he got them for $20.00 each (hey I want one of them). OK enough here are the pictures of a few items he found.

Reader Questions
“Can I freeze the overnight bread to bake later. When in the recipe would it be best to freeze.” - Anonymous
Great question. If you’ve been making the family bread which results in 4 loafs of bread, and like me you don’t have a particularly large family, you don’t really need that much bread all at once.
Here’s what I do and it works with just about any yeast dough bread recipe…
I prepare the recipe per direction up to the point where you shape the dough into the final shape (i.e. loaf, rolls etc.). I don’t let it rise, instead I stick it in the freezer. If I’m baking bread, I put it in the baking pan to shape, then stick everything (pan and dough) into a large freezer bag and stick it in the freezer overnight.
I take it out of the bread pan the next morning and store it in a freezer bag. The dough will rise nicely as it thaws, then bake as usual.

Tote Bags

Here's a tote bag that I made last night. I didn't have a pattern to use I just decided how big I wanted it and cut it out and made it. The fabric I used to make all of the items seen on this blog except the purple material for the quilt was given to me by my friend Angela Turack (thank you Angela). God provided these through a dear friend. The material on the tote bag has frogs and butterflies, I will be making more soon.

Here are 2 more items I made.

OK I know I'm probably boring some of you with all of my pictures, but I am having so much fun doing these. The first picture is another changing pad. The second is a larger baby blanket.

I GIVE UP :(

OK I have to admit that I can't seem to get the nursing blankets to work, I wanted to make them for my daughter in-law Rebekah and a couple of other moms, but the straps and the length didn't seem to want to work. Maybe I'll keep trying, but for right now I will continue to make the burp cloths, baby changing pad ( it's as long as the baby) so that the baby fits on all of it, baby blankets and quilts of all kinds. A friend told me about a friend of hers that makes quilted hand bags and will be getting the pattern for me to make them so we will see how those turn out. I am enjoying my sewing machine and am thankful for it. DON'T I have some nice children who bought it for me.

Baby Changing Pad

Well it's not a good picture but it's cute in person. It is big enough for a baby to lay on while changing his/her diaper.

Pink Baby Blanket

You really can't see the blanket very well. I'm having fun doing these, they may not be professional but with time I will get better that's why I'm making these for practice.

And Here Comes Another One

Here's a pink burp cloth.

Quilting Up-Date

OK here's the burp cloth and the nursing blanket. The nursing blanket didn't turn out the way I wanted it to so, I will try again until I get it right it has a pocket for a nursing pad. The burp cloth was easy since it's like quilting.
I have one more idea for the nursing blanket so we will see if it works.

My Quilt is coming along great

My Quilt is getting bigger and I'm having a great time working on it, I'm not able to work on it everyday because of not feeling well and not being able o sit long periods of time. I'm hoping to be able to get it finished soon, this one is a practice one then I will be making more to sell Lord willing. My friend Robyn Fritz who quilts a lot sent me a pattern for place mats that I'm hoping to include in my collection of quilting items. OK here is the current progress of the quilt.
